Pilates works out the entire body in addition to the mind. The focus is on the core of the body so the rest can freely move and this makes makes your body stronger both on the inside and out. The balance is meant to be present between flexibility and strength and this results in stronger and leaner muscles. Many people see the value in both activities and this is why a whole new generation is choosing to incorporate both Yoga and Pilates into their lives.

There are many similarities and differences between Pilates and Yoga. There are many movements and various positions in both activities. Yoga is done using an exercise mat, while Pilates uses mats and certain types of equipment. The movements in Pilates are quite graceful. This is one reason that many dancers use it as a part of their training. Yoga can also be very graceful once you get the movements down properly, but in the end, this activity is more about a lifestyle of mediation, and uniting with the universe. It is the same for Pilates, a different means that is used to get there though. Both help to build strength, coordination and balance. Both are meant to be healthy for the body and mind. The end results are basically the same; it is the road that brings us to the end that is different.
